Hello! It is October 31st, almost 10am... Happy Halloween!
Well, I have been a slacker with this whole blog thing. I've never done this before, so I am a little slow going--bear with me. Well we have hit and passed week 39 and still, I am pregnant! Next Tuesday, November 4th is not only Election Day, but baby's due date too. However, that doesn't mean she'll necessarily come that day or before. I know, it breaks my heart too to tell you all that. Due date, schmue date. I am beginning to understand that due dates are just guesses. Oh well, I am thinking this is a funny way that life and this little baby scorpio is teaching us patience.
So, Nathan has been very busy at work- working on all kinds of neat projects--although for some, he may disagree! He has been working on Burger King stuff and also VW, area 41 stuff. So keep your eyes peeled for some upcoming fabulous work.
I, on the other hand, have been significantly less productive. I am officially unemployed! Ahhh!!! It has really been a blessing and I grateful we can afford to have one of us stay home, but let me tell you, it is very hard! Although I've never been diagnosed, I am sure I have a raging case of ADHD. I have been trying to keep myself busy and sane by cleaning, cooking, walking, internet-ing, channel surfing, and some yoga. Sounds good right? I have to say, if I had it my way, I'd choose a friend or two to hang with me. But for now, I am left to my solitude here for the most part. Kitten only hiccups, kicks, and sends me on frequent tours of the 'ladies room' to communicate with me. I have let her know many times, that her mom and dad are ready for her to come out into the world, but she has other plans. I even bought a special ghost infant hat to stick on her if she comes today...so we'll see if I can use that or not.
Nathan and I put a bid in on a home in Nederland about a month ago. It's a very nice 4 bedroom tri-level. Go figure! It's a mansion compared to our space now and would be a really nice change for us if it works out. So again, we get to play the waiting game of determining if our offer is accepted. So, keep your fingers crossed for us!!
Let's see what else can I report...Oh, we have our 2nd doctor's appointment for the week. Yes, we feel very popular. We have been having 'non-stress tests' done weekly and now, bi-weekly. The NST just monitors the baby's heart rate and movements and also measures contractions. This is just done to ensure the baby is doing well and thriving. We had talked about doing an induction this week-- but after some very helpful chats with wise family members and friends, we've decided it's best to wait until the baby is ready. (*SIGH*!!) It will be ok though. After the appointment we are going to go buy a nice wooden rocking chair from a fellow Boulderite. So it will be nice to have a special rocker for the baby :)
For the rest of the weekend I think we are just planning on relaxing and staying close to home. So I think that's all for now. We are very anxious and excited to say the least in waiting for this little baby. If you see any storks, be sure and send them our way :) ! ! !
Love to you all!

We hope you all enjoy reading the trials and triumphs of our little Ella. Feel free to make comments and posts -- we welcome advice and suggestions. Enjoy!

1st Blog Entry
This is my first blog entry. It's just past 4:30 on Friday, October 3rd. My girlfriends at work threw me a beautiful baby shower at Mimi's Cafe in Westminster. We had lunch, good conversation, and cup cakes. They also were so kind to give us lots of useful baby gifts. They all continued to ask "Did you guys pick a name yet?!". My response remains the same, "not yet!". I am really rooting for Ella Autumn. I feel like she is an Ella. I was at the doctors on Monday. To my surprise, little baby girl had already begun initiating the birthing process! We are at 2cm as of today. Although, reality is that I could be here for weeks! So I am trying really hard, both Nathan and I, to not get too excited. She will come when she is ready! The baby's room is mostly ready. I think we just need to do some final room arrangements. Maybe a rug or rocking chair? The clothes are all washed and ready to go as well as the bedding. So! Just little things are left to do! Nathan and I each have 1 baby class to attend-Nathan is taking "Daddy Bootcamp" and I am taking a breastfeeding course. Can you imagine the fun these courses will entail?! I think Nathan and I agree that the classes, all 5 of them-- have been really helpful in preparing us for the baby. That said, we know that there is lots more to learn once our daughter arrives-- the real stuff anyway!
We are excited to have our families come out to visit us- Dave and Geri in a few weeks-- we hope! Jen and Peyton end of November. They'll be here through Thanksgiving-- maybe we'll all do the Turkey Trot together if it's not too chilly, and we've bought tickets to see the new annual Reuss tradition to see the Nutcracker at the Unversity of Colorado. Dad, Tina, and Ryan, will be coming in Decemberish...we can't wait!
To add to the mix of things, Nathan and I put a bid in on a great home in Nederland-- about 25 minutes west of Boulder up in the mountains. Funny enough, it's a tri-level...but very nice. It would just need a little love which we are willing to dole out. We'll find out if they accepted our offer likely mid-October. So, keep your fingers crossed. It would be really nice to have our own home a whole 2500 square feet of space versus 800 square feet and lots of stairs to battle :( We will keep you all posted.
I will be finishing up my job as a Resource Coordinator/Case Manager at North Metro Community Services in Westminster on October 16th. I figured that my birthday would be a good day to say good-bye to my job and friends and embark on the beginning of my new role as a stay at home mama. Maybe I'll get a massage that day too!
Nathan has been a very vital member of the Crispin, Porter, and Bogusky team since Marchish. There, as an interactive designer, his creative ideas and mind have taken him to many new heights and opportunities. Though the hours can be quite grueling at times, it is truely amazing to be able to watch his thoughts and ideas transfer into big ideas and become world-wide master pieces. He purchased a new bike a few months ago, a Maverick, which if you aren't familiar to the bike world, it is essentially the 'jaguar' of bikes :) He rides his bike to work just about every day- 7 miles each way. Isn't he the greenest? Plus, I think he really enjoys the work out.
I have been trying my best to stay active. All the doctors and books I've read say it's the best thing you can do for yourself during the pregnancy and to prepare for labor. In the beginning of the pregnancy, I was teaching yoga at 2 studios in Boulder. However, the studio owners did not know that I was pregnant. I thought I'd keep it a secret for a while. Then, I started to get bigger and more uncomfortable and decided to 'retire' from my first short-lived teaching saga until I was more, well, not pregnant. Although, in the past 2 months, I did sub a few classes for my friend Eliza-- that was really interesting since I was big and obviously pregnant and couldn't demonstrate many of the poses! I also, regretably, cancelled my membership to Core Power Yoga where I was practicing vinyasa yoga in a very heated room. I was too nervous about practicing in such intense heat and verocity. So I switch over to 24-hour fitness, a health club, that has lots of locations all over the Boulder/Denver area. There, I take full advantage of the salt water pool swimming laps, walk on the treadmills, and take the yoga classes-which are not heated at more of a slow flow. I am also currently in a pre-natal yoga class at the hospital which I love. We get a few bathroom breaks during the class, isn't that cool!! Plus I just feel better about taking that class since I am more with 'my kind'. So, hopefully these activities will have a pay off in the end. If not, atleast they helped keep my sanity during the past 8 months :)
Just after 5pm now, and speaking of yoga classes- I'm off to one that starts at 5:30. I really hope Nathan doesn't have to work late tonight like he said-- I wanted to carve pumpkins!!
Thanks for having the patience to read to the end of this lengthy entry. Hope to write more later and update you all on the latest baby details...
